The letter 'i' will be removed from every Intel Processor Name, leaving only Intel Core!

Intel will undoubtedly unveil its latest generation of processors to the world later this year. This processor is a 14th generation processor codenamed Meteor Lake.

It's not just the announcement of a new generation of processors that bring lots of new features, especially better performance. Intel also needs to implement branding with the new naming.

According to Intel's official blog, the new names for Intel processors in the Intel Core line will drop the letter "i" at the beginning of the variant names. They plan to simplify it on Core.

For example, Intel Core i3, i5, i7, i9 will be renamed to Core 3, Core 5, Core 7, Core 9 in the future after the 14th Gen series or Meteor Lake release.

These changes can also be seen in the badges, logos, and stickers that are typically applied to internal laptops and PCs.

"Our customer segment business roadmap demonstrates Intel's prioritization of innovation and technology leadership with the launch of Meteor Lake, which focuses on energy efficiency and AI capabilities," said Intel. Caitlin Anderson, Vice President and Director of Sales, Client Computing Group.

"To align with our product strategy, we are introducing a brand structure that allows PC buyers to better differentiate Intel technology," he explained. In addition, Intel will also introduce another brand called Intel Core Ultra. Then there will also be logos and stickers in the form of Intel Core Ultra 5, Core Ultra 7 and Core Ultra 9.

Unfortunately, Intel doesn't go into detail about the differences between the Intel Core series and the Core Ultra series. It is only mentioned that the Intel Core Ultra series offers premium his processors.

Looking at the Intel Core Ultra nomenclature that doesn't include the i3 or Core 3 series, it's safe to assume that this series could offer strong variants like the H-series and HX-series lines.
